K-12 Schools

For over thirty years, Anderson & Associates, Inc. has been assisting a myriad of clients with their traditional engineering and surveying needs. In this time, A&A has developed long lasting working relationships with schools of all sizes, and a breadth of experience which enables us to provide quality service. Our past and current projects have spanned entire school districts and have included award-winning designs. The following are examples of A&A project services in relation to K-12 schools:

School Site Improvements on City of Charlottesville Schools -- City of Charlottesville, VA Providing professional design services for 5 schools in coordination with the City of Charlottesville and the Charlottesville City School Board. Improvements to Buford Middle, Burnley-Moran, Johnson, and Venable Elementary, and Walker Upper Elementary include master planning, traffic circulation, and parking. Of the five schools to be studied, Walker Upper Elementary School had the most urgent schedule and funding had already been budgeted for construction of improvements. Anderson & Associates therefore addressed services for Walker first because of its accelerated schedule. Services to Walker Upper Elementary include review of existing conditions, identification of concerns, and traffic circulation study, as well as coordination of information meetings with parents, students, and school board members.
Road Design & Site Development, Pilot Elementary School -- Guilford County Schools, High Point NC This project is the result of a unique partnership between the Montgomery County School Board, the Town of Blacksburg, and the town's Department of Parks and Recreation. In addition to building a much needed new elementary school, the 28-acre site includes an "enhanced" gym to provide after-hours recreation for Blacksburg residents. Approximately 10 acres of the site is a Blacksburg public park, which has a soccer field, a football field, and two baseball fields. Anderson & Associates prepared a site development plan that included an access road, parking, grading, storm water management, and utilities. Sub to Architect. Kipps Elementary School was a Virginia Municipal League award winning project for 1995.

Colleges & Universities

Anderson & Associates, Inc. has provided professional services for 30 colleges and universities on dozens of different projects including campus wide topographic and utility mapping, updates of campus master plans, water system analysis and design, stormwater management and improvements, sanitary sewer improvements and additions, recreational facilities, parking lots, lighting, various major landscape improvements and amenities, steam tunnel improvements, bikeways, jogging trails, riverbank stabilization, boundary surveys, and environmental site assessments. Anderson & Associates, Inc., has provided such services on the following campuses in Virginia and North Carolina.

Correctional Facilities

Anderson & Associates has provided a variety of planning and design services for both large and small correctional facilities. Our personnel work with a site from the surveying and mapping stage to the final design. Services include grading, stormwater management, utility and road design, landscaping, environmental reports, site inspection, and construction administration and monitoring. We have completed numerous projects for correctional entities. Experience includes evaluation, analysis, recommendation, cost and time estimates, reports, preplanning studies, preparation of preliminary and/or contract documents, field inspections and investigations, shop drawing review and code compliance investigation for architectural and engineering design. Anderson & Associates has held term contracts with the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Corrections, and we have provided civil engineering services to the following facilities across Virginia:

Medical Facilities

From a nursing home in Jonesborough, Tennessee to a 300,000 square foot replacement hospital in Radford, Virginia, Anderson & Associates has performed site development services to numerous medical and health facilities.
