Information Technology: Development Approach

Step 1:  Preliminary Planning
We understand that different businesses benefit from different kinds of network services. An 8-person operation may need only one server, while a 100-person organization may need three. Our preliminary planning process allows us to assess your specific needs and goals, present the range of services we offer, and design a networking strategy appropriate for you. Because the strength of any network design is its durability, we feel it is important to consider long-term design elements at this stage as well.

A&A consultants perform an initial needs assessment.

  • A site visit allows our team to analyze each component of your current system.
  • We analyze the strengths and weaknesses of your current system. We help you choose a system that is neither too powerful, nor insufficient.
  • We document the results of our analysis and recommendations, and present you with the report.

Our team will then design your system, keeping in mind details specific to your physical location and your workflow schedules. System design also entails network security. From the outset, we help you ensure that the right people have access to the right information.  All planning encompasses long-term design solutions. We design scalable systems, and our upgrade plans accommodate both your networking needs and your resource base.

Step 2:  Network Implementation

Our next step is to implement every component necessary to deploy your network. Installing a network means more than simply purchasing a server. In addition to clients and servers, LAN/WAN infrastructure includes such elements such as the cables that connect the computers, the switches that direct the flow of information, and the software that drives the whole system. Our comprehensive approach relies on our experience in each of these areas.

Step 3:  User Training

A network’s efficiency largely depends upon the way people use it. Inexperienced users may not be able to fully utilize your new system’s capabilities. For this reason, we can train employees to use the new components after we have implemented your network; we offer both administrator and user training. Our goals at this stage are to maximize network utilization and ensure that day-to-day operations flow as smoothly as possible after the installation or upgrade.

Administrator Training:
Our services include network administration, however, if you prefer to administer your own network, we can train your employees to do so. Our training sessions cover the basics of using Windows® NT® Server, such as assigning user names, setting up e-mail accounts, and back up routines.

User Training:
User training is included with the installation of new products. Our team will either train on-site, create custom user guides covering any new hardware or software, or both. We design training materials based on your individual needs.

Sample Introductory Sessions:
Our training sessions also respond to your specific questions and concerns. Depending on demand, we can offer 1 hr, 3 hr, or even 8hr workshops such as those listed below.

  • Networking with Windows® 95/98, Windows ® NT
  • Basics of Web Administration and Web Design
  • Introduction to Microsoft ® Office
Step 4:  Technical Support

Once your network has been successfully deployed, we provide the long-term benefit of ongoing technical support. With access to technically experienced professionals, you can rely on the performance of your network, even without in-house support. In fact, our remote monitoring capabilities allow us to administer your network from a distance as though we were actually in the same office. We offer several other support options, as well, so you can choose from a variety of alternatives. (Note: the availability of each service depends on your network configuration.)
