Project Details: Town of Shenandoah

Site Launched: April 2003

The Town of Shenandoah hired Anderson & Associates Inc. in 2002 to redesign its web site. The Town wanted a reorganized website as a means to communicating information about the Town's demographics, history, events, projects, public meetings, and community service organizations to the public. After discussions with the Town and A&A, we were able to produce a web site that met all their needs. We provided graphic design, custom programming, content management, ISP research and migration of site to host.

The redesign of the Town’s site consisted of the following:

Powered by PHP and MySQL, and utilizing the Smarty template engine, the website for the Town of Shenandoah is built around a set of content management tools developed by A&A specifically for municipal websites.

Web page content, images, and downloadable documents are all stored in a database filesystem. Administrative users can upload files, edit page content with a WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") editor, and even crop and resize images, all from within a web browser.

The new website has organized data about the Town and its history, allows civic organizations to include and maintain their own data and has an interactive calendar to allow all employees of the Town to maintain special events and meetings. The unique function with this site is the ability for one person to manage the content changes by having the ability to approve or disapprove any content prior to any "live" changes on the site. The site allows anyone within the Town to edit pages without being a programmer!
