The Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions (VAPDC) held their 2016 Summer Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia July 27th -29th. The conference was located at the Williamsburg Lodge and provided multiple sessions focused on regional collaboration in economic development across the state. Sessions included leveraging the “GO Virginia” program to benefit the Commonwealth’s economy and grants available from the U.S. Economic Development Administration which provide incentives for regional collaboration, among others. Kevin Byrd, Director of the New River Valley Regional Commission and friend of Anderson & Associates, moderated a session discussing statewide association assessments with a representative from National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). The conference included a dinner, corn hole tournament, awards ceremony, VAPDC business meeting, and networking reception. A&A appreciated the opportunity to attend the conference again this year.
