Wedding With a Smashing Reception

A&A Chief Inspector Paul Grimes, stomps grapes at his friend Steve Douty's receptionWhen Buena Vista resident, and owner / operator of Green Forest Surveys, Steve Douty, and his fiancé, Cynthia Ann Berselli began planning their September wedding, they knew that they wanted their special day to include as many things that they loved as possible. They hoped to be surrounded by their friends and family, and they decided to incorporate their shared appreciation for wine and vineyards into their wedding day by holding the ceremony at Rockbridge Vineyard, Virginia.

Of course they hired a photographer to capture moments from their special day as is tradition, but they decided to take holding on to their memories a step farther. Since it was harvest time, and they were already at a vineyard, they asked themselves, "why not make our own wine?"

The couple asked that their guests dress casually for the wedding reception, and once the festivities began, they commenced to stomping grapes. Friends and family of all ages bared their feet and high-stepped in grape-filled wooden barrels in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Douty.

The Doutys have begun the wine making process using the juice from the stomped grapes. They plan on celebrating their future anniversaries by opening some of the wine produced from their wedding day. Steve explains "We thought it would be nice if our friends would help us create something that we could hold on to over the years." &
