President Tim Ingold, PLS, and Crew Chief Kris Keeffer from the Greensboro

Among the "old" equipment was a 66 foot long surveyor's measuring chain, a

metallic property corner monuments. The "new" equipment included
Global Positioning System receivers equipped with real time positioning
technology and a robotic surveying instrument that can be operated remotely
and unattended. Tim also discussed many land surveying topics
including magnetic declination and antiquated measurement units such as
chains, rods, perches, and even DBH's (distance by h Mapping School is held annually for mappers and GIS personnel involved in North Carolina local governments. After four years in the United States Army, hard work is something that's familiar to Susan Moore. While serving her country, she was stationed in Bosnia and Germany before finishing out her duties in Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta she worked for a four-star general, and two three-star Generals, one of whom was General Franks. Moore brought home many lessons from serving her country including important work and life skills, and she met her husband Kevin Moore while in Bosnia. Originally from Watertown, New York, Moore and her husband moved to Dublin, Virginia after their stint in the Army. She began working for Anderson & Associates in 2002 as Marketing Manager for Creative Services and External IT where her hard work obviously paid off. She was promoted this year to Project Manager for A&A's GIS department. Anderson & Associates was one of the first firms to offer GIS services. A&A began GIS in the early 1990's and the technology has continued to grow. Since many people are unfamiliar with GIS, Moore believes the biggest challenge facing her in her new position is getting the word out about the benefits the technology has for communities. She admits, "Once they start using it, the benefits speak for themselves."
'Busy' is a word that Moore knows well. Along with
Moore enjoys all aspects of her work and the responsibilities that go along with it, but she readily admits that working with clients brings her the most satisfaction. The little free time that she has, she enjoys spending at Claytor Lake with her husband and their two dogs. Growth is important to Moore. Along with continuing her education, she has high hopes for A&A's GIS department. She hopes that the department continues to expand and that she can grow along with it. & |
