A Historical Trail

Stafford County, Virginia is an area rich with history. Events occurred here that begin shaping our nation’s history beginning with the kidnapping of Pocahontas. George Washington spent several years in the area as a young boy with his family and the area was a pivotal location during the Civil War due to its location between Washington, DC and Richmond.

As Stafford continues to expand with modern growth, local authorities seek to provide additional services to citizens while respecting the valuable regional history. In January 2005, the Fredericksburg-Stafford Park Authority (FSPA) teamed up with Anderson & Associates for the third phase of a bicycle and pedestrian trail.

This segment of the trail consists of a 10 foot wide section covering one mile of terrain. The path extends through St. Clair Brooks Memorial Park and connects with Falmouth Park. The trail runs adjacent to several historical structures from the Civil War era. A&A Project Manager Jay McGuire said, "This entire job site covers Civil War battle grounds. Additionally, we had to work with the topography to custom fit two bridges."

This project, funded by TEA-21, is currently in its final phase. The path will be extended eastward under Chatham Bridge to connect with Route 3.

Kim Davis: Family First

Kim Davis juggles a busy life with family as her number one priority. She and her husband have two young sons active with football and baseball. Together, they hunt, fish, camp, and snorkel. As a native of Virginia’s New River Valley, Kim often keeps these activities close to home but they frequently visit surrounding areas in Virginia and West Virginia.

Kim joined Anderson & Associates in 1992 as an office aide and has earned her place over the years as the Assistant Accounting Manager. "My job covers the full spectrum of accounting responsibilities. I worked from the very bottom, focusing on data entry, to producing reports and taking an active role in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) management," she said.

As a former member of A&A’s ESOP committee, Kim is particularly eager to continue assuming more responsibility with ESOP projects. The accounting team is also working together to develop new ways of simplifying monthly billing and helping project managers.

"Our team works as a group to brainstorm ideas and create ways to improve our system. After we decide what we want, I work with our programs to make it happen," she said.

In the coming years, Kim hopes to return to school and further her knowledge of accounting. She said, "Time with my family is number one now. My husband and sons are the most important aspects of my life." &
