A Solid Career

by Valerie Beelman

In March 1987, Zeke Ratcliffe joined Anderson & Associates as an inspector. As a recent graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Agricultural Economics, Zeke was trying to find a career path that suited him. Zeke began taking additional accounting classes and was anticipating a career change when he moved internally to the accounting department at A&A.

"I stayed with A&A because this feels like where I belong. I enjoy working with money, and enjoy working with construction. My job is a good combination of these two interests," Zeke said.

Zeke is currently A&A’s Associate Vice President of Business Administration. He keeps a full schedule at the office and balances his time between working with A&A’s cash flow, keeping an eye on the company’s insurance policies, managing retirement, ESOP, and 401k plans, payroll, and incentive pay computations. Zeke also puts a significant amount of energy towards collecting money and reducing accounts receivable.

He said, "If you ask my oldest daughter, I talk on the phone and play on the computer all day."

Zeke and his wife Cindy have two daughters, three-year-old Laura and 11-month-old Kaci. For hobbies, Zeke and his father work a beef cattle farm and sell farm equipment. &

Focus on ESOP: Amy Feathers

by Valerie Beelman

Amy Feathers, Office Manager, has served as the face and voice that greets employees and clients alike in Anderson & Associates’ Middletown office for three years. Amy has been fortunate to meet many of her co-workers from A&A’s other offices, but acknowledges the challenges of being in a regional location. She joined the ESOP Advisory Committee with hopes to see increasing unification of all office locations and to champion the voices of the regional offices.

As a new committee member, Amy is eager to assist other employees and spread the message that the ESOP Advisory Committee represents all employees in the company’s decision making process.

"Post buyout, as a 100 percent employee-owned company, the responsibility of each committee member to listen to, consider, and articulate the concerns and suggestions of co-workers has increased greatly. The future success of the company is up to every employee owner," Amy said. &
