Bringing Water to Prices Fork Residents But, times they are a changin. The Montgomery County PSA has called for a new water system and has executed an agreement that allows the purchase of water from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP) through Alliant Techsystems and a backup connection to the Blacksburg system. This arrangement will provide a safe and reliable water source to several communities, bringing water from the New River to areas such as Thomas Lane, Montgomery Farms, Prices Fork, Phillips Acres, and some areas of Merrimac. The system improvements include approximately 58,000 linear feet of water line, a 500,000 gallon storage tank, and a booster pump station. The pump station will pump water from the RAAP to the water tank on Price Mountain. The water lines will provide increased pressure, as well as fire flow capabilities to the existing systems. "This new system will serve as the base water system," said Project Manager Tom DiGiulian. "We will be able to expand it to other areas of the County as the need arises." In early March, many people, including representatives from the Montgomery County PSA and the Board of Supervisors, as well as several Prices Fork residents, attended a ceremonial ground-breaking held in front of Prices Fork Elementary School. Several employees from Anderson & Associates, who provided the engineering design, were also in attendance. Last year, the PSA was awarded a two million dollar grant from Rural Development, in addition to a low-interest loan, for the water system project, which will ultimately benefit more than 2,000 customers. PSA Director Michael Kirk says "We are so happy to have this opportunity to provide a clean and reliable water source to the residents in the community." Construction began in February and is scheduled to be completed before Fall. Intranet sites are designed to facilitate communication online, as well as provide a centralized source for important organization information. An intranet enables you to post documents and even organize events. Essentially, an Intranet serves as a resource management tool.
Through an Intranet, employees can access past project files, marketing materials, an interactive training calendar, and a sign-out page to reserve vehicles and equipment. The A&A Intranet was profiled in Zweig Whites recently published "AEC Intranet Cookbook". Also, our Creative Services team is capable of customizing and selling many of our Intranet components.
