| A&A Greensboro: On the Move! by Jim Billups In September 1989, Anderson & Associates, Inc. opened its Greensboro, N.C., office in a single
suite in West Friendly Business Park, manned by one employee. In the 13 years since
beginning operations in Greensboro, A&A has added four adjacent office suites as
personnel and services expanded. However, with a 50 percent increase in personnel over the
past two years and growth anticipated at an accelerated rate, a new facility was in order.
Effective December 2, 2002, the new home of the A&A Greensboro office will be a modern 12,560 square-foot facility located at 406 Gallimore Dairy Road in Greensboro. This facility is conveniently located at the Gallimore Dairy Road entrance to the Airpark East office park, and is one block south of the Gallimore Dairy Road/Interstate 40 interchange. The new facility will provide a desirable working environment for the staff of more than 30 employees. The facility will enable the clustering of project teams, which are the backbone of A&As organizational structure. Two large conference rooms will be available for client meetings and web-based training sessions open to A&A employees and clients. A reference library will also be housed in the facility. The A&A Greensboro office offers a full range of professional services, including civil engineering, surveying, planning, and GIS. The office has 11 graduate engineers, all of whom are either licensed or working towards licensure. In addition, there are three licensed professional surveyors, and four staff members currently pursuing surveying licensure. The Greensboro office is also the home location for A&As company-wide GIS manager. As marketing director, Heather is responsible for all A&A marketing initiatives, including brand imaging, advertising, client development, event planning, and public relations. She manages a staff of 10 marketing professionals throughout the firms five offices. Prior to joining A&A, Heather worked in sales and catering at Mountain Lake in Giles County, Va. When she heard A&A had an opening, Heather jumped at the opportunity. "Everyone said that A&A was a great place to work," she explains. And eight years later, Heather still fosters that same enthusiasm. "The people here are great to work with," she says. "There is a focus on family values, which allows me to be flexible with my schedule as a working mother." In fact, when her daughter, Sydney, was an infant, Heather was able to bring her to work with her. As marketing director, Heathers goals are to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan for the firm, determine a consistent image for all marketing materials, and increase A&As visibility through community involvement. She also hopes to offer A&As clients value-added marketing services. "I am excited about taking on the responsibilities of marketing director because of the diverse job responsibilities," Heather notes. "I enjoy challenges; and I am looking forward to trying out some new ideas." Heathers passion for challenges is also evident in her personal life. An accomplished musician, Heather plays both piano and flute. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family. And when Heather has a few spare minutes, she lends her marketing expertise to her husband, Clark, who is the owner of Mountain Enterprise.
