A&A Recognized as Approved Sponsor of CPC in North Carolina

by Emily Stowe

Training class at A&A

Anderson & Associates recently became an Approved Sponsor of Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) activities for Professional Engineers and Surveyors licensed in North Carolina. The North Carolina State Board of Examiners and Surveyors granted this designation for the Anderson & Associates University (AAU) training program. As an approved sponsor for CPC, various AAU training sessions will be acceptable for Professional Development Hours (PDH) credit by the Board. Professional Engineers and Surveyors registered in North Carolina are required by statute to obtain 15 PDHs each year in support of their license renewals.

Typically, each lunch time training session is offered at least twice, and is conducted by NetMeeting running over the interoffice Wide Area Network (WAN), allowing all A&A employees and guests to participate with minimal interruptions to personal and business schedules. Professional and support staff are ensured of keeping abreast of the latest advances that impact their particular areas of practice.

A&A employees learn on their lunch hour.

Greensboro Branch Office Manager Jim Billups said, "We
are extremely pleased to have obtained this designation from
the North Carolina Board. This is one more significant way that our ‘High-Tech, High-Touch’ philosophy results in mutual benefits to our clients, our employees, and the well-being of the company."

New WebGIS Offers Global Capabilities

ArcIMS and orthophotography are revolutionizing the way GIS works.

Anderson & Associates is rolling out a new WebGIS system that will have the potential to extend GIS capabilities to all members of an organization with internet or intranet access – essentially providing global access to GIS. This new system, with reduced costs per user, will be a significant factor in accelerating the daily use of GIS.

The new WebGIS-ArcIMS system will feature a larger map area and an enhanced homepage with function buttons located across the top of the screen, rather than on pull down menus. New features include a zoom window capability, an active pan capability, a simplified legend frame, and a query builder that allows users to easily devise their own multiple level queries.
Pricing for layer posting and layer hosting can be found at http://www.webgis.net under the sample contracts section. A&A will migrate existing users to the new WebGIS-ArcIMS version at no cost to the user before the end of their existing contract period.
