Christy Parker: Washington County Assistant Administrator

     Christy Parker may be the only assistant county administrator with three strands of barbed wire on the front of her desk. The rusty fencing doesn’t signify a hands-off attitude on the part of the Washington County official; she’s merely being punny.

     You see, Parker, who competed in the 1985 and 1986 National Fencing Championships, once mentioned her skill to a Washington County native who knew something about fencing himself. The next day he presented her with something he thought she would appreciate—antique barbed wire fencing. It was one of the funniest misunderstandings she’s experienced.
