October is always a busy month for A&A’s employee-owners, and this year was no different. Once again, Anderson & Associates held our annual ESOP Month festivities. This celebration of Employee-Ownership is observed by ESOP companies throughout the nation.
What is an ESOP? It’s an employee-owner program that provides the company’s workforce with an ownership interest in the company. In an ESOP, companies provide their employees with stock ownership. By giving plan participants an interest in seeing that the company’s stock performs well, these plans encourage all employees, from the highest paid to the lowest paid, to do what’s best for shareholders, since the employees themselves are the shareholders.
This unique business model strives to create a strong sense of individual worth and teamwork, and encourages all employees to contribute to the company’s prosperity, as they each have a personal interest and share of the ownership of the company.
A&A’s ESOP Committee, comprised of John Keenan, Lisa Schultz, and Joey Conrad, planned and coordinated activities and events to celebrate ESOP month and A&A’s accomplishments as an ESOP. Festivities included a company-wide poker game, pumpkin carving, candy-corn guessing and a company breakfast. A&A also promoted the social benefits of employee-ownership by conducting a food drive on behalf of Micah’s Backpack, an organization whose mission is to address food insecurities with youth at ten local schools.
A&A has a tradition of holding successful ESOP month celebrations, and 2016 was no different thanks to the hard work of our ESOP committee, and the dedication of all of our employee-owners.
