Anderson & Associates is now offering scanning, data collection, and virtual surveying
services to its clients. A&A's scanning capabilities are quite diverse; some examples of the
applications for our laser scanner include Architecure As-builts, Railways and Highways,
3D locations of Tunnels and Mines, Heritage Preservation, and Manufacturing Clearances.
From scanning the intricate details of historical structures, such as hand-carved trim work
and hand-crafted details that are geometrically complex, to using our scanning capabilities
to verify that railroad tunnels have adequate clearance for double-stack railroad cars, we
utilize our scanning capabilities to provide a diverse range of scanning services to our clients.

Featured Project: The Heartland Corridor
September 9th, 2010 marked the official opening of Norfolk Southern’s Heartland Corridor, the most ambitious railroad project in the past century. This project was a public-private partnership among Norfolk Southern and federal and state agencies to increase vertical clearances in railroad tunnels to allow passage of double-stacked container trains between the Port of Virginia and Columbus Ohio.
Anderson & Associates survey team was excited to be a part of this historic project. A&A provided Quality Control including scanning, data collection, and virtual surveying services to verify that the railroad tunnels for the Heartland Corridor have adequate clearance for double stack cars.
Anderson & Associates, has been involved in the Heartland Corridor project since 2005, and along with scanning services, has provided staking and record surveys for 30 tunnels and 11 bridges.
