AAU: The Road to a World of Knowledge

Anderson & Associates University :  Using MS NetMeeting

Microsoft NetMeeting will allow you and your project manager or other team members to simultaneously view documents such as specifications, drawings, pictures, diagrams, cost estimates over the internet or by you dialing into our toll free network at the office you are working with. This program has the potential for reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and speeding completion of projects by simplifying the communication mediums.

Download NetMeeting from the Microsoft site at www.microsoft.com/netmeeting/, or directly from the Download Area. Don't be intimidated, it only takes a few minutes! We suggest that you either go through the tutorial below, or call your A&A contact to help you through the rest of the process.

Instructions
Open up NetMeeting (go to Start, Program files, NetMeeting) and it will prompt you to type in some personal information like name, email address.etc... To share files with someone at A&A, you'll need to make sure you have a direct connection to us, so in the category box, select "business," and in the server box make sure you type in netmeeting.andassoc.com.

After hitting next, you'll be asked your speed of connection. Most users will be 28,800, but options for 14,400, ISDN, and LAN will be given. You will also be asked a series of questions about the Audio Wizard. Don't worry about this very much, unless you want to use your microphone. At A&A, we use the regular phone connection, because of the clarity and ease of use. After hitting finish, the program will launch. To actually "net-meet," you will need to make sure you have your Internet access up and running.

To test your system, you may want to have someone at A&A call you. We will have to place all calls to you because our network has a firewall around it. As someone from A&A calls you, you will see a message on your screen "Incoming call." Hit "accept." Now you are in a call. At this point, you can share applications, chat or use the whiteboard. Your A&A contact can guide you from here.
